How to Check IELTS Results and Scores?
You must be pondering about how you will be able to fetch your IELTS results? Don’t worry, here are the major methods for checking your result and scores in IELTS?
Provisional Online Result
Your provisional online IELTS result shall be available after 13 days from the date of the test.t IELTS management won’t consider the provisional online screenshots or printed copies as authentic. However, candidates are advised to wait for the provisional results, which will be available after 28 days of the test. Your test report format (TRF) will be mailed to you to check the formal and authentic scores.
IELTS Results through SMS (Short Mail Service)

TRF (Test Report Form)
Basically, there are two main types of test report forms, Personal Test Report Form and Institutional Test Report Form. Let’s understand them.
|Personal Test Report Form||It is advisable for IELTS candidates to keep a copy of the personal test report form in safe hands. You won’t be able to get another. Your TRF scorecard will be mailed by postal service.|
It may take up to 10-12 days from the date of the result to get your TRF handy. Once the mail is out for delivery, you are going to receive a tracking reference number for future correspondence.
|Institutional Test Report Form||If you wish to send your IELTS results and score directly to your preferred college or university, you can choose this route. You are advised to fill additional test report forms with the proper address of the correspondence of educational institutions.|
You have the option for paid service too where you can send your additional reports to your desired colleges or universities. It can be sent through e-mail, international courier service, or by manual postal service.
How Long are IELTS Results & Score Valid For?
IELTS results and score are only valid for a period of two years. Generally, academic institutions don’t accept scores that are more than two years old unless the candidate proves that they have actively worked towards improving or maintaining their scores.
Though it is quite unusual to have issues with marking and scoring, a test-taker can apply for remarking if they didn’t get the score they were expecting. This is referred to as an Enquiry on Results (EOR). You can select which test sections need to be re-marked and must apply for re-marking within six weeks of the test date. The remarking fee is 6,500 INR for test dates from August 2019 and you can download the remarking form by clicking here. Normally, it would take 4-6 weeks to remark your results and the timeline mainly depends on how many sections you want to get remarked.

EOR stands for Enquiry on Result and is for those who want to get their IELTS exam remarked. You can download the EOR form from the British Council’s website and submit 6,500 INR (for test dates after August 2019) and get your IELTS exam remarked.
Identification Document number corresponds to the ID number you used on the exam day. The ID number is usually the candidate’s passport number or any other ID number of the document they provided on the exam day.
