IELTS Reading Score Calculator

IELTS is an English language proficiency test that assesses your knowledge of the English language based on these four components; Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Depending upon your purpose of visit to a country, you are required to take an IELTS Test. If you are an international student, you’ll be required to take an IELTS Academic Test. While going for a professional visit or migration, you’ll be required to take an IELTS GT or General Training. Most of the time, people who take an IELTS Test tend to not give equal attention to the Reading section. While all of the 4 components are equally important, Reading should not be left behind. To ace any Exam, one must be aware of the format and the score calculation. This blog provides you with everything you need to know about IELTS Reading Score Calculator and more.

How is the IELTS Reading test marked?

The reading section includes 40 questions. A variety of question types are used, e.g. multiple-choice, True/False/Not Given, matching, and sentence completion. Your answers are either correct or incorrect, so the marking is a little different from the Speaking and Writing tests. Tips to Get a Good Score in IELTS Reading

  1. While doing the reading section, you must go through and understand a large amount of text and correctly answer questions about what you’ve read in a short amount of time. The best way to improve your reading skills is to read as many texts as you can daily. Not only should you read newspapers or academic books, but you should also read novels and expose yourself to a variety of content. This will help you overcome your reading difficulties and add to your vocabulary skills.
  2. Analysing the information provided in the text is the main aim of the reading section. You must read carefully and should never rush while reading. Take your time to read and analyse every aspect of the important information to get precise answers.
  3. Always read the questions first. Reading the question first will give you an insight into the text, and you’ll be ready to look out for the answers.
  4. Do not neglect spelling revision. Your spelling must be correct, or it’ll be marked wrong. You do not lose marks for wrong answers but spellings. Ensure that you never leave a blank space for any question.
  5. Always re-read and double-check your answers. Some questions are designed to trick you so that you start thinking that you’ve got the correct answer in the first place. Make sure you pay enough attention to the answers.
  6. Remember to highlight the important information. Sometimes you forget or skip an answer by mistake, which will help you remember and process the information.
  7. Manage your time to complete the passages without any rush or panic. However, it is recommended to use 20 minutes each for both the passages, but you know better. Try to manage time according to your reading capability but make sure you do not spend more time on a specific task.
