India’s Intelligence Bureau (IB) gives you an opportunity to be a spy and serve your nation as Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO). IB ACIO is a national level exam for a Grade – II, Group – C (Non-gazetted, Non-ministerial), executive post in IB and conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) every year.

On December 18, 2020, IB ACIO 2021 notification was released and here are some important dates & information regarding this competitive exam.

Application Process of IB ACIO

  • Candidates can register for the IB ACIO exam by visiting the official website of the Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA). 
  • Click on the IB ACIO 2021 notification. Candidates have to fill in the application form which will require details like name, age, educational qualification, etc. This will be part 1 of the form.
  •  After completing part 1 proceed to part 2. In part 2 of the form, you have to pay the application fee.
  •  After payment candidates have to upload the scanned copies of the photograph and signature. Click on the submit button and take the printout of your application.

Application Fee

The examination Fee of IB ACIO is ₹ 100/- and the recruitment fee is ₹ 500. Males Candidates who belong to General, EWS, and OBC Categories have to pay both Examination and recruitment fee total of ₹ 600/- Female candidates, Ex-servicemen, and candidates who belong to SC/ST category have to pay only recruitment fee ₹ 500.

You can pay online through a Debit card/Credit card/Internet banking or offline through Bank Challan.

Eligibility Criteria 

For the eligibility criteria of IB ACIO, the Ministry of Home Affairs have kept a few requirements.

  • Age – The minimum age of an ACIO candidate should be of at least 18 years. While the maximum age is up to 27 years to apply for this exam.
  • Age Relaxation – There are specific age relaxations for candidates that belonsg to the SC/ST or OBC categories
  • Educational Qualifications – Other than basic knowledge about computers, the candidate must be graduated from a recognized institution or university duly approved by UGC.

Exam Pattern

IB ACIO exam has three tiers. Candidates have to clear all three tiers. CAndidates will only proceed to Tier 2 after clearing Tier 1 and similarly Tier 3 After clearing Tier 2.

Tier 1 is of 100 Marks and consists of section General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical/Analytical Ability, English Language. Each section is 25 marks each. The time allotted to complete the exam is 60 minutes. Tier 1 is objective types questions i.e. multiple-choice questions.

Tier 2 is 50 marks and contains two parts essay writing and English comprehension. Essay writing carries 30 marks, English comprehension carries 20 marks. The time allotted to complete the exam is 60 minutes. Tier 2 is subjective/ descriptive questions.

Tier 3 is 100 marks and is an interview round. The candidates are evaluated based on their performance in Tier 1 and 2. The candidates are finalized based on their subject to their Character, Antecedent verification & medical examination, etc.

In order to download the IB ACIO admit card for the 2021-22 exam, follow the given steps.

  • Step 1: Click here to go to the main government website.
  • Step 2: After opening the website log in to your student account through User ID and password.
  • Step 3: Click on “Login” and downliad your admit card.
  • Step 4: Print out your admit card as a hard copy for future purpose.

Job Profiles

There are different job profiles and responsibilities in IB ACIO. Your job location and promotion depend upon your job profile. One of the basic roles will be to address security at State and National levels. The officers have to use their knowledge and skills to determine the potential threats and risks & resolve them. Other job responsibilities will be Desk work at the investigation bureau, Investigating cases related to national & state scams, corruption. Collecting information, investigating, field assessment, handling situations, etc. You will have to travel with your team to investigate the cases.HeadQuarters of Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs is located in the national capital New Delhi. IB ACIO posting can be anywhere in India. IB ACIO gets promoted to ACIO level 1 after service of 3- 4 years. After 10 years ACIO _! Is promoted to Deputy Central Intelligence Officer (DCIO). A DCIO can be promoted as Assistant Director in Intelligence Bureau’s Subsidiaries. Assistant Director can be promoted to the position of Joint Deputy Director.

 IB ACIO Salary

Salary can vary depending upon the factors like the location of the posting and services. The Salary of IB ACIO can be between Rs 44000 to 48000. After the 7th pay commission was introduced the salary structure changes for the IB executives and the breakdown of the salary structure of IB ACIO is as follows.

GPF/NPF, GNPS, and other things are deducted from the salary. IB ACIO has benefits as well.  IB ACIO gets Special Security Allowance at 20% of the basic pay with other Govt. allowances. Duty performed on holidays will also receive a cash compensation/ Medical cover under the central government health scheme. IB ACIO can also avail of travel packages for the family every 2 years.
