SSB or the Service Selection Board, which comes under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence conducts entrance exams to recruit candidates for various posts in the tri-forces i.e. Army, Navy and Air Force. Keeping in mind the various determinants of personality, the main parameters which are assessed during the SSB interview are the candidates’ confidence, personality, compatibility, intelligence and potential. Furthermore, apart from scoring well in the personal interview, being physically fit is an added component to ace the exam. This blog aims to highlight some tips and tricks to clear the SSB exam with flying colours.
What is the Eligibility for SSB Exam?
Be it NDA exam or SSB, entrance tests that recruit candidates for a wide range of vacancies in the tri-services follow a rigorous path to select the potential candidates. When it comes to SSB exam, given below is the eligibility criteria which one needs to fulfil to proceed with the exam:
- The candidates who are unmarried and have qualified Combined Defence Service examination, one of the popular UPSC exams, are eligible to apply.
- For Naval Academy, the candidate must hold an engineering degree.
- For Air Force Academy, an applicant must have BSc Mathematics/ BSc Physics, BTech. or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree.
- For Indian Military Academy and Officers Training Academy, the candidate must have a degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university.
Note: There is a difference in the age criteria for male and female candidates.
Exam Structure
SSB exam is taken over a period of five days to test the abilities and intelligence of the candidates. A total of five tests are carried out including the personal interview which can be held on any day from the second to the fourth day of examination.
