Understanding AIEED Exam 2021

The All India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED) conducted by ARCH College of Design and Business, evaluates the creativity, aesthetic sense and design sensitivity of budding designers, along with testing their logical ability and problem-solving aptitude. The AIEED exam is undertaken by students who want to seek admission at the renowned design institute or university in order to build a successful career in various fields of designing. ARCH conducts AIEED Exam in two different modes namely the Online Entrance Test and the Centre Based Entrance Test every year.

Also, under the ‘Prime Minister’s Initiative for International Education’ of the British Council, the students and the faculty undertake exchange programs between ARCH and Doncaster College in the UK.

Study Abroad Degree (3+1+1-year)

The students wanting to study integrated design courses in the UK need to pass the Pearson BTech HND Level 5 after the completion of 3rd year at ARCH BA-MA degree. The students are awarded an integrated degree from a UK university on progression to the 4th year of study and eventually complete the MA degree after the 5th year. Below is the list of courses offered by ARCH for studying abroad.

  • BA in Fashion Design
  • BA in Interior Design
  • BA in Product Design
  • BA in Graphic Design

Eligibility Criteria

All the candidates who are planning to prepare for the AIEED exam are required to fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility standards and failing to meet any of these conditions might result in cancellation of the candidature.

Undergraduate Level Courses

  1. All candidates above the age of 16 years are eligible to apply.
  2. The candidate should be appearing or have completed 10+2 under the recognized board of education (CBSE/ICSE/IB/State Board/NIOS or equivalent).
  3. Students in 10+1 are also eligible to apply and upon successfully qualifying the exam, they are eligible for direct admission after completing 10+2. However, students have to clear another stage of the exam.
  4. The candidates are required to clear PTE exam (Academics) within one year of the course commencement of the progression to the UK university.

Postgraduate Level Courses

  1. Candidates pursuing a bachelor’s in any discipline from an accredited institution are eligible to apply.

Application Fee

The candidates have to pay a registration fee of ₹3000/- using either Online Payment Gateway, Demand Draft or Payment in the Bank of India branch. 

AIEED Exam Pattern 2021

Knowing the pattern of the exam is one of the most important aspects which decides your preparation strategy as well as the potential result. So, before you gear up for the AIEED exam, let us understand the following stages of the exam:

General Aptitude Test (GAT)

This includes an online video and portfolio submission, wherein the candidates will be tested on various parameters like design sensibilities, design-related awareness, logical reasoning, awareness on global issues, etc.

Creative Aptitude Test (CAT)

This comprises of the actual online AIEED exam conducted for a duration of 3 hours. The questions are related to general and creative abilities that test candidates on various parameters like design thinking, lateral thinking, articulation skills (both written and visual), awareness of design principles, etc. 

Interaction

Using the video calling application, the candidates go through the ‘interaction round’ where the composure, focus, depth of thinking, range of work in the portfolio of the candidate is tested.
