Students from India who enrol for the GRE must pay USD 228. Candidates should be aware that the GRE registration fee, GRE application fee, and GRE General Test fee are all equivalent to USD 228. The cost of the GRE in India is around INR 18,842

GRE Reschedule Fees

Candidates who reschedule their GRE General Test registrations are required to do so no later than four days before the test date or the GRE fee would be forfeited. Candidates would be required to pay $50(INR 4067) as GRE reschedule fee for rescheduling their GRE test. Apart from this, candidates are charged $50(INR 4067) as a GRE Subject change fee, if they want to change a subject in the GRE Subject Test. Candidates wanting to avail of additional services would be required to pay an extra GRE fee for the same. GRE test fees for special handling requests for services are mentioned below:

GRE Cancellation Fees

Candidates who wish to cancel their GRE General Test must do so no later than four days before their test date, to be eligible to receive a refund equivalent to half of the GRE test fee. Candidates should note that there are no cash refunds and the refund amount would be in US Dollars and be credited back to the original credit/debit card or bank account via which the payment was made.

GRE Exam Fees Payment Methods

The GRE price in India is $228, and Indian students are sometimes puzzled about how to pay the money. The reason for this is that the charge must be paid in US dollars. However, cash is not accepted, and preparing monies specifically to pay for GRE is hard. GRE fees can be paid using the ways listed below:

  • Make a payment using a credit or debit card (American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard or Visa).
  • PayPal.
  • Money order, voucher, check, or electronic check.

The e-check must be written on a US bank account, thus, therefore, is not available to Indians who do not have a bank account in the United States. The best way to pay GRE costs is to use a debit or credit card or PayPal.

How to Pay the GRE Fees?

The GRE fee is mentioned in USD so many people get confused with the payment method. The GRE fee is not acceptable in cash. So, the payment methods for the GRE are mentioned below:

  1. Through Credit or Debit Card (American Express®, Diners Club International®, Discover®, JCB®, MasterCard®, Rupay™ Global, UnionPay® and Visa®).
  2. PayPal.
  3. Through Money order or voucher. 
  4. Payments can also be made through personal paper checks (drawn against U.S. bank accounts only).
  5. If the payment is done through check, then comply with the following:
  • Bank name and address should be preprinted on the face of the check.
  • The check must have a preprinted check number. The check must include the candidate or payee’s name and address.
  • The check date should not be over 90 days old.
  • New bank account starter checks missing the pre-printed name and address are not acceptable.

  • Anyone can register for GRE Exam irrespective of their age
  • Candidate will be required to produce their original passport for identity proof


What is their score validity of them?

TheGREm scores are valid for up to 5 years.

What is a good GRE score?

A GRE score of 326 or above is considered good as per the conducting body of GRE i.e ETS.

How many times can I take them?

There is no specific limit for taking them. You can take them till you get the desired score, however, you are allowed to take the test once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period.
