What is Good Science?

Good Science basically sticks to the scientific manner of verifying information by conceptualizing the problem accurately, framing a hypothesis which is a tentative statement about a particular problem, collecting data for the same and then drawing and revising the research conclusions in order to prove whether the hypothesis stands true or not. Features of Good Science

Features of good science are elucidated below-

  1. It is objective: It is objective in nature and it is based on facts and sees reality as it is. Good Science does not have any scope of biases and inaccuracies.
  1. It is reliable: Scientific conclusions and knowledge can be replicated in all circumstances rather than just one circumstance and reliability is the hallmark of Good Science
  1. Validity: Scientific knowledge is valid which means it does measure what it claims to measure and that simply implies that the purpose of the scientific research is adhered to and fulfilled.
  1. Verifiability: Based on empirical evidence which is gathered through study and observation instead of intuition and myths
  1. Authenticity: It always ensures that the scientific knowledge being shared further is authentic and accurate and has no scope of vagueness and ambiguity.

What Makes Good Science?

1) Testability: A scientific theory should be testable so that a clear picture of the same can be seen and its credibility can be tested. It is always devoid of confirmation bias.

2) Replicability: Scientific knowledge based on good science must be replicable as scientific knowledge is not one that just shows results one time in the lab. Instead, it should clearly convey how the world around us works and should be practical and realistic enough.

3) Correlation should not be confused with causation: It is easy to misunderstand the correlation between two things as causation but it should be utterly clear that correlation between two things does not correspond to causation between them in order to avoid any sort of ambiguity and misunderstanding.
