Also known as Parent’s Day, it is celebrated to recognise the efforts of our parents in raising their children and helping them to achieve their goals and ambitions. The role of parents in society is a remarkable one, they are the driving forces in making their children achieve milestones in life and they provide emotional support, motivation to do good for society. Global Day of Parents is a unique day. It is celebrated to honour the selfless acts and sacrifices of parents across the globe. June 1st is celebrated as Global Day of Parents every year to mark the resolutions proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2012 to honour parents. However, the celebration dates may vary in countries. The day was marked as Global Day of Parents by the UN General Assembly to recognise the role of responsible parenting in everyday life. For instance, in the USA it is celebrated on July 4th, in India on 25th July and in Korea on May 8th.

Significance 

The day is celebrated not only to highlight the importance of commitments and sacrifices made by parents for their children across the world but also to acknowledge parents. It is a United Nations (UN) observance day. The most significant purpose of the day is to provide everyone a day in their busy lives to appreciate their parents and parental figures for the role they have played in making us who we are today.

The day is celebrated as a mark of respect and appreciation to parents for their selfless commitment to children, and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship.  This day is meant for all countries to come together and thank those who gave them this life and helped them in becoming the best version of themselves. Various campaigns and educational programs across the globe to celebrate Parent’s Day and to honour parents and also encourage stability within nuclear families. Certain organizations also use this day for promoting the model of a two-parent nuclear family.

To celebrate Parent’s Day children spend quality time with their parents across the globe. They make sure they visit their parents and have a good time with them. Here are some other ways to celebrate Parent’s Day with your parents –

  1. Wish your parents and tell them you are grateful for them and everything that they have done for you.
