1685:  Duke of York became King 
James II of England and VII of Scotland is proclaimed King upon the death of his brother Charles II.

1778: War between France and England
Britain declared war on France on February 6 1778.

1778: American Revolutionary War
 The United States and France signed Treaty of Alliance and the Treaty of Amity and Commerce which signaled official recognition of the new republic on February 6 1778.

1819: Discovery of Singapore
Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles found Singapore as a British trading port.

1833:King of Greece
 Otto became the first modern King of Greece on February 6 1833.

1851: Largest Australian bushfires
The largest Australian bushfires in a populous region recorded in history take place in the state of Victoria.

1894: Bottle opener patent
The first patent of the Bottle opener by William Painter on February 6 1894.

1918: British Women voting rights
British women over the age of 30 who meet certain qualifications are granted the right to vote under the Representation of the People Act 1918 passed by Parliament.

1926: The first Doughnut Making Machine
The first doughnut-making machine was launched in Dubuque, Iowa by a company called Trausch Bakery.

1931: Death of Motilal Nehru
Indian Lawyer and politician- Motilal Nehru dies at the age of 69 years on February 6 1931.

1935: Women voting rights in Turkey
It was the 1st election that allowed women to vote in Turkey.

1952: Elizabeth II became the Queen of the United Kingdom
Upon the death of her father- George VI, Elizabeth II became Queen of the United Kingdom and her other Realms and Territories and Head of the Commonwealth including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

1964: Pact of the Channel tunnel
The channel tunnel pact that included a link between France and Great-Britain was officially signed.

1987: First women judge in Australia
Justice Mary Gaudron became the first woman to be appointed to the High Court of Australia.

2011: Indian Navy captures pirates
The Indian Navy captured twenty pirates and rescued over twenty hostages after apprehending a Thai fishing boat in the Indian Ocean. 

2016: Earthquake in Taiwan
An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck southern Taiwan which killed 117 people on February 6 2016.

2020: The longest continuous spaceflight by a female
US astronaut Christina Koch completes the longest continuous spaceflight by a female astronaut after 328 days on the International Space Station, landing in Kazakhstan
