Elementary Teacher’s Test is conducted by the State Council of Educational Research & Training, Government of Punjab to select students for Diploma in Elementary Education and for Teaching jobs. In 2022 Punjab ETT recruitment process 5994 vacancies were released, the application process for which was closed on the 10th of November 2022. In this blog, we will know about the ETT exam in detail.

What is ETT?

ETT stands for Elementary Teacher’s Test when used in terms of ETT exams for recruitment and Elementary Teacher’s Training in terms of ETT Courses. ETT entrance exams are conducted as an evaluation process in certain colleges to screen the applicants for their course intakes. After the course, the candidate can write an ETT Exam for recruitment as a teacher in the Punjab government. The ETT courses are differently designed coursework to train the candidates as efficient Elementary school teachers, librarians, etc

Eligibility and Selection Criteria for The Punjab ETT Exam 2022

All candidates between 18-37 years of age can apply for Punjab ETT Exam 2022 in the recruitment drive. The candidate must have 50% or higher marks in graduation to be eligible to sit for the exam.

The ETT Exam is just a two-step process that involves a written exam and document evaluation. The candidates who score the highest marks in the written exam are called for the document verification process. A merit list of selected candidates is released online, on the official website of the Education Recruitment Board.

Pattern Punjab ETT Exam 2022

To prepare smartly for an exam it is good to know the weightage of each section of the exam so before giving a detailed syllabus, here is a concise pattern of Punjab ETT Exam marks weightage for each section. To start with, the test is divided into 2 parts, A and B.

Part A of the exam is for 100 minutes and consists of the following sections

Syllabus for the Punjab ETT Exam 2022

Following is the syllabus for the Punjab ETT Exam 2022:

Punjabi Syllabus

  1. Detailed knowledge of Sikh gurus.
  2. Punjabi and Sufi poets like Gurmati Kavi, Bulleh shah, etc.
  3. Prose knowledge of writers like Sri Teja Singh, Harpal Singh Pannu, Kulwant singh Virk, Ajit Kaur etc.
  4. Grammar like vocabulary and script, language aesthetics, word identification, types of sentences, idioms, Articles and Punctuations, and Synonyms.

English Syllabus

  1. Comprehension passage.
  2. Grammar like articles, conjugations and Modals, prepositions and determiners, tenses, error correction, narration, clauses, and transformation.
  3. Synonyms and antonyms, one-word substitutions, idioms and phrases.
  4. Translation between English and Punjab.

Hindi Syllabus

  1. Scripts, alphabets and words, nouns, pronouns, adjectives and verbs, adverbs, synonyms and antonyms. 
  2. Prefix and suffix, one word for the phrase, opposites, idioms, proverbs, Punjabi to Hindi translation.

General Science Syllabus

  1. Physics: Force and laws of Motion, gravitation, reflection and refraction, work and energy, sound, electricity, magnetism, sources of energy, and matter in our surroundings. 
  2. Chemistry: Atoms and molecules, acids, bases, and salts, metals and non-metals, carbon and its compounds.
  3. Biology: The Fundamental unit of life, Tissues, Diversity of Living organisms, Why do we fall ill, Natural Resources, Improvement in Food Resources, Life Processes, Control and Coordination, Reproduction in Organisms, Heredity and Evolution, The Human Eye and Colorful World.

Social Studies Syllabus

Geography, Earth, Climate, Natural Flora, Fauna, soil, Population, Economics, History, Civil Sciences, Land Use and Agriculture, Mineral and Energy Resources, etc

Mathematics Syllabus

Numerical Systems, Real Numbers, Polynomials, Linear Equations, Arithmetic Series, Geometry, Lines and Angles, Statistics, etc


What is the eligibility for Punjab ETT Exam 2022?

To be eligible for the Punjab ETT Exam 2022 the candidate must be above 18 years and below 37 years of age, and they must have secured 50% or above marks in graduation. Though the Punjabi language is not mentioned as a criterion the exam contains a test for Punjabi so that is also a requirement. 

Are the Admit Cards for Punjab ETT Exam 2022 out?

The admit cards for the Punjab ETT Exam 2022 will be out a week before the exam. The date of the exam is 05 March 2023.

Is there any entrance exam for ETT?

The university-level ETT Punjab is held to provide admission to several diploma courses. The test is given once a year. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab, has created a merit list that will serve as the only basis for the admissions process.

According to the ETT Exam date sheet, the exam is to be commenced in March 2023. Therefore, there is plenty of time for the candidates to prepare for the exam, candidates can go for live classes for the exam, avail of mock test papers online and also go through the previous year’s question paper.
