DU LLB: Eligibility Criteria

In order to be able to sit for one of the popular competitive exams, it is important for the candidates to fulfil certain eligibility criteria. Therefore, before filling out the application form for the DU LLB entrance exam, here is what you need to know about the admission parameters set by the university: 

  • General (unreserved) Category: The candidates falling in the unreserved category should hold either a graduate or post-graduate degree from any recognized university or educational institution. Further, only those with at least an aggregate of 50% or equivalent are eligible to apply.
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category: The eligible OBC candidates should hold either a graduate or a post-graduate degree from any recognized university or educational institution with an aggregate of at least 45% or equivalent.
  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (ST/SC) Category: Only those candidates who hold either a graduate or postgraduate degree from a recognized university or educational institution and have secured an aggregate of at least 40% are eligible to apply.

Please note: Relaxation of up to 5% marks will be provided to the candidates who belong to the category of widows or wards of defence personnel. Also, the general candidates who belong to PwD (Persons with Disability) are provided with a relaxation of up to 5% marks. 

Entrance Exam Pattern

Way before the candidates start applying for the DU LLB entrance exam, having clarity about the exam pattern and syllabus is crucial to ace the test.   • The duration of the exam is of two hours and will be held in an Online mode.
  • There shall be a total of 100 objective type questions each carrying four marks. Thus, the total weightage of the exam is of 400 marks in all.
  • The exam is divided into 4 sections namely, English Language Comprehension, Analytical Abilities, Legal Awareness and Aptitude, and General Knowledge.
  • The entire examination is to be attempted in the English language.
  • Talking about the marking scheme, four marks will be awarded for every correct attempt. Whereas, one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. No marks will be deducted if the question is left unanswered.

How to Apply for the DU LLB Exam?

The University of Delhi will release the official notification for inviting applications to admission into DU LLB for the year 2021 soon. To give you a brief overview, below are some simple steps that you must follow in order to apply for the entrance test: 

  1. Visit the official website of the Faculty of Law.
  2. To register yourself, click on ‘New Registration’.
  3. The next step is to fill in all the essential personal and academic details in the application form available. 
  4. Check whether all the details you have entered are correct. Pay the application fees and click ‘Submit’.

The online registration fee for applying to DU LLB is Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/PwD and for all other categories such as Unreserved and Other Backward Classes, it is Rs. 500/-.

DU LLB 2021 Counselling

Faculty of Law, Delhi University takes care of the counselling process and grants admission to students in its 3 campuses:

  • Candidates need to register on the official website and rank the three campuses in order of their preferences.
  • DU releases a cut off list which acts as the basis for admissions.
  • All the shortlisted candidates need to report to the venue as per their allotted time.
  • Candidates will be allotted seats based on their marks, preference and seat matrix.
  • Candidates need to report to their allotted campuses with all the original documents and fees in order to complete the admission process.
