Defence Research and Development Organization or DRDO conducts a test to occupy its vacancies for technicians in various fields. To do so DRDO organises an exam called CEPTAM which stands for Center for Personal Talent Management. These vacancies are for Senior Technical Assistant B and Technician A.
The CEPTAM exam is taken in two segments namely Tier I and Tier II. It is conducted to get candidates for technical, administrative and allied categories for any non-gazetted posts. The exam is conducted on a national level every year by DRDO.

DRDO Technician Exam Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the DRDO Technician exam in 2022 are not much different from the previous year, however, the candidate is required to check age bars, and duration of residence instead of the given date or date of application.
- Only Indian citizens can apply for the exams.
- The candidate must be above 18 years of age and below 28 years of age.
- Age relaxations only for the upper limit are given to those under reservation of (ST/SC/OBC) PWD, Widows, Divorced Women, Employees of the central government, Departmental candidates, Domicile residents of Jammu and Kashmir (between 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989).
- Each applicant is required to have completed class 10th or equivalent examination.
- One should also have done ITI (Field Specific) from a recognised university or institute.
- The candidate must not pursue any higher education while applying for the position.
- All results should be clear and declared before applying for the examination.

DRDO Exam Pattern 2022
The exam is divided into 2 tiers. Tier I is a Computer Based test (CBT)
Tier I: Computer-Based Test
Except for the English section, the whole exam is bilingual and can be attempted in Hindi or English as per choice. The prelims are also divided into two parts. The whole exam is for 90 minutes and contains 120 questions.
Part A – consists of language-based questions, Quantitative Ability, General Intelligence and reasoning ability, General Awareness and General Science.
This section contains 40 questions
Part B – This section is specific to the specialisation of the post. The questions here are trade subject-specific.
This section contains 80 questions.
Minimum Qualifying Marks for Tier II
The acceptance ratio for this year’s technicians posts is 1:8, that is 8 candidates will be promoted to Tier II Exam for each post.
The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for general category candidates and 35% for ST/SC/OB category candidates.
Tier II DRDO Technician Exam
The Tier II of the examination process is conducted to test the practical knowledge of the candidate in the respective field.
It consists of only 1 part with questions specific to the discipline of the postcode and the exam time varies between 60 to 120 minutes.
