Central Teaching Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in order to recruit teachers from classes I-VIII. The exam is divided into two parts – Paper I and Paper-II. Candidates are majorly evaluated on topics such as Language-I (compulsory), Science, Social Studies/Social Sciences, Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics, Environmental Studies and Language-II (compulsory). Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released dates for CTET Exam 2021. Given below is the entire exam schedule as per the official notification:

CTET Exam Pattern 

There are two papers in the CTET Exam, Paper 1- for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V and Paper 2- for applicants who want to be a mentor classes VI to VIII. Given below is a detailed Syllabus and Weightage of both the papers along with the number of question each section contains:

Child Development and Pedagogy Section

This section focuses on the educational psychology of teaching and learning lessons relevant to students belonging to the age group of 6-11 years. Topics from which questions are framed in the CTET exam are Child Development, Concept of Inclusive education and understanding children with special needs, and Learning and Pedagogy. Here is a breakdown of questions and marks for the same:

Mathematics Section

This section analyses a student’s thinking and logical ability through mathematical concepts, problem-solving questions and pedagogical issues. The topics covered under this section in the CTET syllabus for Paper 1 contains Numbers, Solving simple equations, Algebra, Geometry patterns, Time, Measurement, Data handling, Solids, Data handling, etc. and Pedagogical issues. The marking scheme for this section in CTET Paper 1 and Paper 2 is explained below:

This section tests the efficiency of candidates in the language they plan to use as a medium of instruction. Here is a breakdown of the Language I and Language II section in the CTET Exam 2021.
