Career as a BAMS Doctor: Career Options

Earlier, Ayurvedic Doctors after completing their degree in BAMS, had no other option left but to start their own clinical practice. However, now upon graduating with BAMS, a five-and-a-half-year Ayurvedic medicine course, the graduates (doctors) have a sky full of career opportunities waiting for them. Clinical Practice

The first thing that comes to the minds of a BAMS Doctor is to start a self practising clinic. However, for a person to start clinical practice, it is a must for them to be well-versed with modern medicine and interpreting diagnostic tests. The graduates work under the senior practitioners for a year or two before setting up their own clinical practice.

With a motive to pursue a career in education and academics, it is essential for the BAMS Doctor to pursue a post-graduation degree. Apart from going for a degree in M.D., the doctor can go for other subjects such as Balaroga, Panchkarma etc. After acquiring the masters level degree, the BAMS Doctor can join private and government educational institutions as lecturers and demonstrators.
