Anuja Chauhan born on 17th September 1970 is an Indian author, advertiser and prolific screenwriter. She is often described as ‘the best writer of Indian commercial fiction. She worked in the advertising department at JWT India for around 17 years and eventually became vice-president and executive creative director. As an executive advertiser, Anuja Chauhan gave some of the most famous taglines like, ’Darr ke aage jeet hai’ (Mountain Dew) and ‘Tedha hai par mera hai’ (Kurkure). In 2010, she resigned from this job so as to pursue a full-time career in writing and literacy. Over the years she has worked with top-leading brands like Mountain-Dew, Kurkure, Pepsi and a lot more. As a writer, she is loved by readers for her best-selling, contemporary “romantic-comic kind of novels”. Her famous writings are The Zoya Factor (2008), Battle of Bittora (2010), Those Pricey Thakur Girls(2013), The House That BJ Built(2015), Baaz(2017).
Anuja Chauhan, a lady with beauty with a brain, took birth in the Rajput family, situated in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Chauhan since her childhood days spent most of her initial years in various cantonment towns located in North India as her father served in an Indian Army. Her father took early retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel and thereafter migrated to Australia. She is the youngest one of four sisters namely, Padmini, Rohini, Nandini and Anuja.
She has been a student of the Army Public School, New Delhi, Sophia Girls Convent, Meerut Cantonment and Delhi Public School, New Delhi. She completed her bachelors in economics from Miranda House, Delhi Universit Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology stood as a success pillar in Deepa’s life as it was the institute through which she completed her postgraduate diploma in mass communication.

Chauhan joined the JWT company in 1993 and in the following 17 years was responsible for unforgettable catch phrases such as “Yeh Dil Maange More!”, “Mera Number Kab Aayega” ,”Oye Bubbly”,etc. At the age of 33, she was one of the youngest vice-president working at JWT. She also features regularly in The Economic Times supplement Brand Equity’s list of the ten hottest creative directors in India. In August 2010, she resigned from this job so as to pursue a full-time literary career.

Its story is set in a year that follows assassination of Indira Gandhi and the programs against the Sikhs.Those Pricey Thakur Girls is the first in series of novels which was released in January 2013.It mainly focuses on the Thakurs of Hailey Road, an upper-middle-class Rajput family that consists of five sisters named alphabetically.

It is the fifth book written by Anuja Chauhan which basically is the story of a fighter pilot who falls in love with one of his colleague’s sisters. This novel is a passionate tale of love and war set in the year 1971, at a fictitious Indian Air Force Base.

In 1994 Chauhan got married to Niret Alva, the television presenter and producer who is the co-founder and chairman of television production company Miditech. He has produced popular reality shows like Indian Idol for Sony, Perfect Bride for Star Plus and the most famous of recent time ‘Roadies’ for MTV. They have three children (2 daughters and 1 son) and the whole family resides in Gurgaon.
